This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application "Track School Buses" collects, uses, stores, and protects information when used by school bus drivers and school supervisors.
This application is strictly designed for internal use by authorized school transportation staff. It is not intended for parents, students, or the general public.
1. Information We Collect
The app collects only the data required to operate its core functionality.
- Real-time GPS Location – The live location of the device is collected to allow supervisors and other drivers in the same group to see each other's positions.
- Device Identifier – A system-generated Android device identifier is used to uniquely recognize a device inside the system.
- App Settings – Distance alerts, geofence (park or place) alerts, and group keys.
We do not collect names, phone numbers, emails, or personal identity data of drivers or supervisors.
2. How Location Data Is Used
Location data is used only to:
- Show the live location of school buses and supervisors on the map
- Trigger distance-based alerts (for example: when a bus crosses 15 km or comes close to another bus)
- Trigger place-based alerts using Google Places (for example: reaching a park or school)
- Enable coordination between drivers and supervisors for safety and route monitoring
Location sharing occurs only between users who are connected using the same secure group key.
3. Who Can See the Location
Location data is shared only between:
- School bus drivers using the app
- School supervisors using the app
All users must use the same shared group key to view each other's location. No third party, parent, or external user can access this data.
4. Data Storage
Location data is transmitted securely to our servers and is used only for real-time tracking and alert generation.
We do not sell, rent, or share this data with any third-party companies for advertising or marketing.
Location records may be temporarily stored for operational and debugging purposes but are not kept longer than necessary.
5. Permissions Used
The app requires the following permissions:
- Location (Foreground and Background) – To allow real-time tracking, alerts, and geofence detection even when the app is not open.
- Internet – To send and receive location data from the secure server.
Without these permissions, the app cannot function.
6. Google Maps and Google Places
This app uses Google Maps and Google Places services to:
- Display maps
- Search for places (parks, schools, etc.)
- Set geofence alerts

7. Data Security
We use secure communication and access controls to protect all location data. Only users with the correct group key can access shared location information.
8. Children's Privacy
This application is not designed for use by children. No student or child data is collected or stored.
